Metropolis Park lists volunteer efforts

A selection of cleanup times and initiatives are on faucet at Metropolis Park to strengthen and maintain the substantial urban eco-friendly space.

Those coming up consist of:

  • Litter Cleanup Krewe: 10 a.m. Tuesday. Litter removing during the park. Also Dec. 20 and 27.
  • Graffiti Cleanup Krewe: 10 a.m. Dec. 22. Volunteers paint about graffiti and obvious debris. Also Dec. 29
  • Large Lake Native Plant Trail Restoration Job: 8 a.m. Friday. Horticulture routines involve weeding, removal of plant particles, mulching, shoveling and other jobs to manage indigenous plant beds. Also Dec. 23 and 30.
  • Urban Forest Assist Initiative: 9 a.m. Dec. 17. Forestry tasks consist of trail clearing, vine elimination and pruning.
  • Softball Complex Advancement Task: 9 a.m. Dec. 20. Fence cleansing on the quadruplex, which includes pulling and pruning. 35 Diagonal Drive.

PRC options residence tour, patron social gathering

The Preservation Useful resource Heart kicks off its getaway happenings with the 47th Vacation Residence Tour and a bonus assets Saturday and Sunday.

Six Backyard garden District homes, dressed for the holidays, will be integrated in the tour. There will also be songs, a boutique, book signings and design talks.

Slidell houses open up in JA tour Sunday

3 luxurious households will be open for the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell’s Tour of Households 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The properties, found in The Bluffs, Tuscany Estates and Master’s Place, will feature vacation decor, plus gentle snacks at each and every household. Addresses for the properties will be delivered on the tickets.

Fruit tree sale Dec. 17

The NOLA Tree Project’s yearly Fruit Tree Sale will feature a assortment of citrus and other trees at Ye Olde University Inn from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 17.

Included in the listing, for $45 each, are Meyer lemon, Owari satsuma, red and Washington navel oranges, Louisiana Sweet Hamlin and Moro blood oranges, Rio pink grapefruit, tart kumquat, Persian and Important limes, Orlando tangelo, sunburst tangerine, sweet native persimmon and Arbequina olive.

Mayhaw trees will be $25, although Celeste and LSU Purple figs are $35 and Joey avocado are $55.

Tour and caroling set for French Quarter Dec. 18

Decorations abound in the French Quarter properties bundled in the Patio Planters of the Vieux Carré’s annual Vacation Dwelling Tour.

The self-guided walking tour features 5 private residences from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 18. A limited range of tickets will be offered.

A range of residence designs and decors will be integrated in the function, which precedes the once-a-year Caroling in Jackson Sq. at 7 p.m.
